Annular BOP
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000128
A large valve within the blowout preventer (BOP) stack designed to seal the annular space between the drill string and the wellbore. Its primary component is a large, flexible rubber element that can be hydraulically compressed to close around drill pipe, casing, or even an open hole. Unlike ram BOPs that seal on specific pipe diameters, the annular BOP can conform to multiple shapes and sizes, providing a versatile sealing capability.
