Stripping ram

A component of a blowout preventer (BOP) designed with a resilient sealing element that closes around a tubular to provide a seal while allowing the tubular to be moved axially. This ram is used during stripping operations, where pipe is run into or pulled out of a live well under pressure. It maintains well control by containing wellbore fluids.
