Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000377
A type of ram in a blowout preventer (BOP) that has no opening for the drill pipe and is designed to seal off the open wellbore completely. When activated, two opposing blind rams close together, creating a pressure-tight seal across the well. These rams are used when there is no drill string in the hole or as a final sealing mechanism during well control events.
