Blind box
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000376
A heavy slickline tool with a closed, blind lower end, run to hammer on an obstruction in the tubing and drive it down or break it up when jarring is needed. It is also used to part the wire at the rope socket so that the broken line can be recovered with an overshot. It differs from a sinker bar, whose only job is to add weight to the tool string.
