Stem
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004456
A solid cylindrical weight bar in a slickline or wireline tool string, also called a sinker bar, whose mass gives the string enough weight to run down against well pressure and friction. Stems are made in several diameters and lengths and are joined in sections to reach the weight needed. Some are filled with tungsten to carry more weight in a short length.
