Stem indicator
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003615
A visual device on a valve that shows the position of the valve's closure element (gate or globe). On a rising-stem valve, the amount of stem protruding from the valve body provides a direct and immediate indication of whether the valve is open, closed, or partially open. Non-rising stem designs require a separate indicator, such as a pointer attached to the stem that moves against a marked scale.
