Nonrising stem
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002562
A valve design where the stem, which connects the handwheel to the valve's closure element, rotates to open or close the valve but does not move axially up or down. This configuration is beneficial in applications with limited overhead clearance or where external stem movement could interfere with other equipment. Gate valves and plug valves frequently employ a nonrising stem design.
