Plug valve
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002827
A quarter-turn valve that uses a cylindrical or tapered plug with a bore through it, which rotates 90 degrees to control fluid flow. When the bore aligns with the pipeline, the valve is open; when perpendicular, it is closed. Plug valves are known for their quick shutoff capability and are often used in applications requiring tight sealing and minimal pressure drop, such as in gas pipelines and chemical processing.
