Bubble-tight shutoff
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000479
A performance standard for a valve indicating that it provides a complete seal against flow in the closed position, with no detectable leakage. This level of sealing is verified by submerging the valve's outlet in water and observing for the formation of bubbles over a specified time under pressure. The API 598 standard defines the testing procedures and allowable leakage rates for different valve types and sizes.
