Lip seal
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002177
A type of dynamic seal characterized by a flexible sealing element that presses against a mating surface to prevent fluid leakage. The sealing action is achieved by the lip deforming under pressure, creating a tight barrier. Lip seals are often made from elastomers like nitrile rubber or Viton and are used in rotating or reciprocating applications such as pump shafts and valve stems.
