Metal-to-metal seal
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002328
A sealing mechanism that relies on the direct contact and elastic or plastic deformation of two precisely machined metal surfaces, without the use of elastomeric or non-metallic gaskets. This design provides a high-integrity barrier against fluid leakage, especially in high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) environments where elastomers would fail. Metal seals are a standard feature in premium threaded connections for casing and tubing, as well as in wellhead equipment and downhole completion tools.
