Seal assembly
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003288
A component of a downhole tool, such as a packer or liner hanger, that creates a pressure-tight barrier between two concentric tubulars. It typically consists of elastomeric elements or metal-to-metal seals designed to expand and conform to the surrounding pipe. The seal assembly prevents fluid migration and isolates different pressure regimes within the wellbore.
