Metal loss
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002327
A reduction in the wall thickness of a tubular, such as casing or tubing, typically caused by corrosion or erosion. This condition is detected by caliper or magnetic inspection tools, which measure the internal diameter or magnetic flux leakage. Metal loss compromises the structural integrity of the pipe and can lead to leaks or failures.
