Ball valve
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000265
A quarter-turn valve that uses a hollow, pivoting ball to control flow through it. The ball has a bore through its center, and when rotated 90 degrees, it either aligns with the flow path to allow passage or blocks it. Ball valves are widely used for on/off service in pipelines and process systems due to their quick operation and tight shutoff capabilities.
