Ball sealers
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000264
Small, buoyant balls made of rubber, nylon, or a degradable polymer that are pumped with stimulation fluids to temporarily block perforations. They are carried by the fluid flow to the wellbore casing and seat against perforations that are accepting the most fluid, thereby diverting the treatment to less permeable zones. After the treatment, flow is reversed to unseat the balls for retrieval at the surface, or they degrade over time.
