Ball dropper
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000261
A surface device used in multistage fracturing operations to sequentially release balls of specific sizes into the treatment fluid. These balls travel downhole with the fluid to land on corresponding seats in sliding sleeves or baffle plates, isolating previously fractured stages and diverting pressure to open the next stage for treatment. The device holds multiple balls in a magazine or chamber, releasing them on a pre-set schedule or via remote hydraulic or manual actuation.
