Diversion

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001131

The technique of temporarily blocking off high-permeability or previously treated zones within a reservoir to redirect treatment fluids into other, less permeable target intervals. This is achieved by pumping diverting agents, such as rock salt, benzoic acid flakes, or specialized polymers, that create a temporary seal. Unlike permanent zonal isolation, these agents are designed to dissolve or degrade after the treatment, restoring flow to the diverted zones.
