Foam diversion
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004331
A technique used in well stimulation and workover operations where a stable foam is injected to temporarily block off high-permeability zones. This blockage redirects subsequently pumped treatment fluids, such as acids or fracturing fluids, into less permeable, previously untreated sections of the reservoir. The foam, which consists of a gas (nitrogen or carbon dioxide) and a liquid with a foaming agent, eventually breaks down and is produced back from the well.
