Foaming agent
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004332
A chemical additive used in drilling fluids to generate and stabilize foam, particularly in air or gas-drilling operations. These agents reduce the surface tension of the liquid phase, allowing gas to be entrained and form a stable foam that can carry cuttings out of the wellbore. Common foaming agents are surfactants like alpha-olefin sulfonates.
