Defoamer
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000980
A chemical additive used in drilling fluids to prevent or break down foam formation. Foam can interfere with mud properties, solids control equipment, and accurate fluid density measurements. Defoamers typically work by reducing the surface tension of the fluid, causing air bubbles to coalesce and dissipate.
