Antifoam
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000145
A chemical additive used in drilling fluids to prevent or break down foam formation, which can interfere with mud properties and drilling operations. These agents reduce the surface tension of the fluid, causing air bubbles to coalesce and dissipate. Silicone-based compounds and certain alcohols are effective antifoam agents, typically added in small concentrations.
