Surface tension
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003702
The cohesive force that exists at the interface between a liquid and another medium, such as air or another liquid, causing the liquid surface to behave like an elastic membrane. In drilling fluids, surface tension influences foaming, wetting properties, and the ability of the fluid to suspend solids. It is measured in dynes per centimeter or millinewtons per meter.
