Oil-water interface
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002614
The boundary surface between an oil phase and a water phase within a drilling fluid or reservoir. This interface is where surface tension forces act, influencing the stability of emulsions and the displacement of fluids. In a wellbore, it can refer to the contact zone between an oil-based mud and formation water.
