Gas-water contact

The interface or boundary surface within a reservoir where a column of natural gas overlies formation water. This contact marks the lowest elevation at which gas is present in the reservoir. The gas-water contact (GWC) is a fundamental parameter for calculating gas reserves and designing well completions.
