Oil-water contact
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002613
The boundary surface within a reservoir rock where crude oil and formation water meet. Due to density differences, oil accumulates above the water, forming a distinct interface. This contact is a key parameter for estimating hydrocarbon volumes and is identified using well logs, such as resistivity and neutron logs, or pressure measurements.
