Oil/water ratio
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002615
The volume percentage of the oil (or synthetic fluid) and water phases in an invert-emulsion drilling fluid. This ratio is a fundamental design and maintenance parameter, controlling the fluid's density, viscosity, filtration properties, and temperature stability. The oil/water ratio is determined by retort analysis and is reported as two numbers, such as 80/20, where the first number is the oil-phase percentage and the second is the water-phase percentage.
