Surface tension
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011668
The force per unit length acting parallel to the surface of a liquid, tending to minimize the surface area. It arises from the imbalance of intermolecular forces experienced by molecules at the surface compared to those in the bulk. Surface tension is commonly measured in millinewtons per meter.
