Areic surface energy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000775

The excess energy per unit area at the surface of a material compared to the bulk. This energy arises from the unsatisfied bonding forces of atoms at the surface, leading to a tendency to minimize surface area. It is measured in joules per square meter (J/m^2) or ergs per square centimeter (erg/cm^2).
