Surface shut-in
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003701
The act of closing the wellhead valves to stop the flow of fluids from a well at the surface. This action causes pressure to build up in the wellbore and reservoir, allowing for the measurement of static or build-up pressures. It is a standard procedure performed during well testing to gather data for reservoir characterization.
