Initial shut-in period
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001984
The first shut-in of a drillstem test, which follows the brief initial flow period. With the tester valve closed, pressure recovers toward the initial reservoir pressure, giving a buildup curve from which that pressure can be estimated. It is longer than the initial flow period, and it comes before the main flow period.
