Closed-in well

A well that is temporarily shut off from producing, either at the surface wellhead or with a downhole valve, preventing fluid flow from the reservoir. Wells are closed in for pressure buildup tests, to await connection to production facilities, or due to market conditions or mechanical problems. The duration of the shut-in period is recorded for pressure transient analysis.
