SIP
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003431
The pressure recorded at the surface of a well after it has been closed, or shut in, to stop flow. Shut-in pressure (SIP) is measured after an influx, or kick, to assess the downhole pressure conditions and plan a well control response. The pressure is read on gauges connected to the drill pipe (SIDPP) and the casing annulus (SICP), with the difference indicating the nature of the influx.
