Closed-chamber testing
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000703
A drill stem test technique in which the flow period is run against a closed, fixed volume, normally the empty test string with its surface valve shut. Formation fluid enters the pipe and compresses the gas trapped above it, so pressure builds as the chamber fills and no fluid reaches the surface. The method suits low-rate zones and locations where flaring or handling produced fluid is undesirable, and the pressure and volume record gives permeability and skin.
