Foaming agent
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004552
A substance that facilitates the formation and stabilization of a foam by reducing the surface tension of a liquid and forming a stable film around gas bubbles. These agents are typically surfactants that adsorb at the gas-liquid interface, preventing the rapid coalescence of bubbles. Common examples include soaps, detergents, and certain proteins, which are used in applications ranging from food production to fire suppression.
