Focal plane detector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004553
A type of detector in mass spectrometry that simultaneously records ions arriving at different positions along a focal plane, corresponding to different mass-to-charge ratios. This allows for the simultaneous detection of a range of ion masses without scanning. It is commonly employed in instruments with spatial dispersion, such as magnetic sector mass spectrometers.
