Point detector

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009060

A detector in a mass spectrometer that measures ions passing through a small aperture or slit, providing a signal for a specific mass-to-charge ratio at a given time. This contrasts with array detectors that measure multiple mass-to-charge ratios simultaneously. Point detectors are typically used in scanning mass spectrometers.
