Multicollector mass spectrometer

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007623

A type of mass spectrometer equipped with multiple Faraday cup detectors or electron multipliers, arranged to simultaneously collect several ion beams of different mass-to-charge ratios. This design allows for the precise measurement of isotope ratios by reducing the effects of signal fluctuations over time. Such instruments are frequently employed in isotope geochemistry and cosmochemistry for high-precision isotopic analysis.
