Poikilotherm
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009059
An organism whose internal body temperature varies considerably, often matching the temperature of its external environment. These organisms lack a physiological mechanism for maintaining a constant internal temperature. Most invertebrates, fish, amphibians, and reptiles are poikilotherms, in contrast to homeotherms which maintain a stable body temperature.
