Blastema
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001367
A mass of undifferentiated cells that has the capacity to develop into an organ or a body part. This structure is particularly noted in regenerating tissues, where it forms at the site of injury and subsequently differentiates to replace lost structures. It is a key component in the regenerative processes observed in amphibians and some invertebrates.
