Pluripotent stem cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009049
An undifferentiated cell that has the capacity to self-renew and to differentiate into any cell type originating from the three germ layers of an embryo. These cells can form all somatic cell types and germ cells, but cannot develop into an entire organism because they cannot form extraembryonic tissues. Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) are generated from adult somatic cells.
