Pluripotent
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009048
Describing a cell that possesses the ability to differentiate into any cell type derived from the three germ layers (ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm) of an embryo. This capacity allows for the formation of all tissues and organs of the body, but not extraembryonic tissues like the placenta. Embryonic stem cells are a well-known example of pluripotent cells.
