Blast

An immature, undifferentiated precursor cell, particularly a lymphoblast or myeloblast, that is actively dividing. These cells are characterized by a large nucleus, a small amount of cytoplasm, and prominent nucleoli. In a healthy adult, blasts are found primarily in the bone marrow and constitute less than 5% of nucleated cells.
