Blastocoel
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012929
The fluid-filled cavity inside the blastula, formed during cleavage when ions and water are actively transported into the intercellular spaces between the blastomeres. It arises before gastrulation, during which the primary germ layers are established, and in mammals it becomes the cavity of the blastocyst.
