Microwave cavity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007369
A resonant metallic cavity that focuses a microwave field onto a discharge tube so that a standing wave sustains a plasma inside it, as in microwave-induced plasma atomic emission spectrometry. The resonant frequency is set by the cavity dimensions and mode, for example the cylindrical TM010 mode of the Beenakker cavity operated near 2.45 GHz.
