Blastulation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001371
The process in early embryonic development where a morula, a solid ball of cells, is transformed into a blastula or blastocyst, which has a fluid-filled central cavity called the blastocoel. This transformation involves the differentiation of cells into an outer layer (trophectoderm) and an inner cell mass, along with the accumulation of fluid. In human development, blastulation occurs approximately five to seven days after fertilization.
