Blastocyst

A structure formed in the early development of mammals, consisting of an inner cell mass that will form the embryo and an outer layer of cells (trophectoderm) that will contribute to the placenta. It is the stage of embryonic development that implants into the uterine wall. The blastocyst contains the blastocoel cavity.
