Implantation

The process in early embryonic development where the blastocyst adheres to and embeds within the wall of the uterus. This attachment allows the embryo to receive nourishment from the mother and continue its development. In humans, implantation occurs approximately 6 to 12 days after ovulation, marking the beginning of gestation.
