Type A organism

An aquatic organism that lives freely in the water column or on the sediment surface, exhibiting mobility and not being permanently attached to a substrate. These organisms are typically exposed to contaminants dissolved in the water or associated with suspended particles. Examples include fish, zooplankton, and many benthic invertebrates that can move across the sediment.
