Whole sediment
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012694
The entire matrix of solid particles and associated interstitial water found at the bottom of aquatic environments. It includes both the particulate matter and the water filling the spaces between particles. This complex mixture serves as a habitat for benthic organisms and can accumulate pollutants, influencing their bioavailability and ecological impact.
