Sediment
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013534
The material that settles to the bottom of a liquid from a suspension under the influence of gravity or a centrifugal field. This process of settling is known as sedimentation. In colloid chemistry, the term is distinguished from a coagulum or gel, which represents an aggregated structure throughout the volume rather than settled matter.
